So you guys think they will have dogs who will sniff for weed and other drugs? I know they will have vendors like cushy cones, so obviously they can’t expect people to NOT bring weed. Thoughts ?

2021.10.21 16:54 LaxusAir Discussion & Reflection
I've been floating around this sub for the past 10 months or so because a friend had reached out to me in hopes that I could shed some light on the posts that are submitted here. To be fully transparent, I use to get upset at myself from 12-21 because I just blamed my height for my lack of potential dating partners, constantly getting friend-zoned, and so on. It wasn't until shortly after my 21st birthday where I stopped looking at my height as a detriment to any aspect of my life because I didn't see a point in blaming something I couldn't control. That was also in part by the relationship I had in college as a junior with this girl Nina who was a senior. She was 6'2 and I was 5'2, we've experienced the looks and all sorts of questions. An important lesson that a 6-month relationship taught me (since she graduated) was that height really doesn't matter. When you're with someone who genuinely likes you for you, it completely erases the thought of insecurity & self-doubt/feeling as if you aren't enough for this individual (if your height is a factor that concerns you). You reach a level of calmness where you can completely and utterly be yourself at all times because you're secure with yourself and the relationship. Granted she is engaged now and we've remained friends since our "breakup" (we acknowledged before we started dating that we weren't going to put each other through distance / trying to maintain it after college) - it really was a 1-year friendship that turned into a 6-month fling per se, before graduation and now a lifelong friendship. She was always so grateful that I made her feel comfortable & cared for during our time together because she was very self-conscious about how tall she was, due to the fact that guys felt "intimidated by her"
The reason I share this story is so that there can be some perspective for individuals that Truly Believe their height is what's limiting them. I'm not saying this to invalidate your feelings or to come off as some jerk and I'm not saying this like I don't recognize how shallow people can be. I genuinely read every single post that comes through this thread and even had my DM's open on a couple of posts just because I felt like whoever needed to vent or ask questions could.
Even more personal, I was in a relationship for the past 3-years with this girl Jess (who I started dating about 6-months or so after Nina. It came to an end this year unfortunately with reasons that had nothing to do with either of our heights (she was 5'1). Maybe my friend foreshadowed me feeling/potentially thinking I felt inadequate because of my relationship ending. I didn't even know a thread like this existed until he mentioned it to me. The point I'm making is any person that genuinely liked me and who will genuinely like you for you is the only source of love/affection/etc you should want (outside of self-love). Don't get me wrong, it may be subsequently less than average because of how much media, society, etc deems height as this end all be all factor. I've had my fair share of rejections from women who were 5'0-5'10 with the same statements that you all may have received as well (not my type, too short, etc), and to be honest, it's fine. I feel this way personally (and you're welcome to disagree) but wouldn't you rather someone just be straight up with you? I understand that it sucks to hear it, it's shallow, etc, but as men, you will heaface rejection a lot (regardless of your height because there are so many other factors as well) but it really helps to just hear it and move on. There's no point in chasing/liking someone who doesn't like you; learn whatever you can from the situation and keep it moving.
The best thing you can literally do is work on what you can change/be the best version of yourself. People can say it's cheesy but in all honesty... are you living for yourself or the acceptance of others? If you feel inadequate (to your own standard) of an area in your life you need to work on... work on it! For example, I was in fairly decent shape throughout college, but now at 25, I took fitness very seriously for the past 10 months (since the breakup - needed to fuel the fire). I wasn't at a standard I had set in my mind for how I wanted to look from an aesthetic standpoint, and with that came so many benefits. I've read a lot of posts here about "people don't take me seriously", "I get picked on/made fun of" "not having presence/commanding space" and to me, that sounds like an area that is easily solved by working out. Obviously, remove toxic-like individuals from your life, but going to the gym (at least for me) was the best form of self-care I ever took up, outside of reading, setting goals, video games, etc. If anyone is that serious about working/bettering themselves I'll even send them my gym routine. For specifics, I'm 5'2 and weigh 148lbs (Fluctuating between 13-15% BF): Bench - 225 / Deadlift - 325 / Squat -285 - in the gym 6 days a week. It gave me a ton of confidence and really helped with my mental health. Not to mention the respect, admiration, compliments, and acknowledgments I've received from others; that goes a long way!
I don't want to make this post any longer than it already is but I do believe we're all here on this sub for a reason, many of us for different reasons. I can only hope that for each and every one of you that reads this post, that you truly love and take care of yourself because nobody is going to do it for you. We can't place so much emphasis on the love/affection of another individual to fix our own insecurities, when we ourselves may not accept them. My DM's are open for anyone that would like to talk and I hope to have a discussion (in the comments or dm's) about what it is that you would like to change/work on. Wherever you're at in life, know that you are the quintessential piece to making a difference.

2021.10.21 16:54 tallfood episode 259, some thoughts
So I listened to the episode interviewing Kathryn Paige Harden. I'm no geneticist, but one of her comments struck me. She stated that the evidence suggested that education attainment had a 30% heritability value based off of twin studies (assume this is based off of some big twin study that I'm too lazy to track down). Harden argued that the number may be more like 17% and she presented some relative examples to demonstrate that 17% was pretty meaningful, which I'm sure it may be. However, I recently came across this article on the heritability of longevity where they argue that 30% is pretty insignificant. They also provide some interesting reasons why this value may be an overestimate for longevity; mainly social issues like assortative mating. So I have two questions; is 30% or 17% a meaningful contributor to education attainment and I'm comparing apples to oranges when I read the longevity study? My second question is; Is it reasonable to think that some of the same arguments about a lower value for longevity could also be made for education attainment?
Just trying to update...

2021.10.21 16:54 Hughlass I’m quitting because of midladder
It’s been a joyful few years but it’s time to go… with level 14 on its way it’s just gonna get worse, the MK, wizard and Valkyrie spam is only going to get worse. The fact you only need these 3 cards and a level or 2 higher that your opponent to win a competitive game is ridiculous and instead on fixing it supercell add new ways for them to make money. they obviously don’t care. And for all you idiots that are going to say “omg stop complaining they are easy to counter” well how about if I don’t want to play the same 8 cards out of the like 200 every game why should I be forced to either use my higher level cards or use inferno tower or inferno dragon because they are the only decent counters MK without having to have shit cards that do anything else other than help kill MK aka tornado. Why can’t I just have fun a make new inventive decks like you used to be able to do a few years ago. Plus not everyone dedicates 9hrs of there day to games let alone clash Royale… so yes I’m sure you guys are still going to find some brain dead way to try and prove me wrong but deep down you all know that midladder and a few select cards like to ones I mentioned plus a few others like egaint r ruining the game. It’s not fun to be in midladder and I shouldn’t have to use the same 8 cards every game to even have a chance of winning.
